Dan Caprio to Be PFF's Third President
Gifford to Become Senior Adjunct Fellow

WASHINGTON D.C. - The Progress & Freedom Foundation announced today that Raymond Gifford will be stepping down from his position as PFF President later this month, as he is joining the Denver law firm of Kamlet Shepherd Reichert LLP as a partner to launch its communications, Internet and intellectual property practice. Dan Caprio, Executive Vice President and Senior Fellow at the Foundation, will assume the role of President. Gifford will remain affiliated with PFF as a senior adjunct fellow.

Commenting on Caprio's appointment, PFF Chairman and co-founder Jay Keyworth said, "Dan is the perfect choice to lead PFF forward. His record of accomplishment in Washington is well-known. When he joined PFF as Executive Vice President it was clear he would be more than capable of continuing the Foundation’s growth and achievements."

Keyworth said he is pleased Gifford will remain affiliated with PFF. "Ray inherited in PFF a think tank that had, under Jeff Eisenach’s leadership, become the leading voice for a market-oriented approach to the policy challenges of the digital revolution. He has built on that legacy and expanded PFF's reach and reputation. Continuing to work with other PFF senior fellows as an adjunct will be of great benefit to the Foundation."

"My nearly four years at PFF have been the most rewarding and fulfilling of my professional life, and for that I think the many friends (and even nominal enemies) of PFF for making the legal and policy work so engaging, robust and intellectually challenging," stated Gifford in a letter sent today. "PFF will continue to be at the leading edge of thought about the digital revolution with Dan assuming the helm."

"While Ray will be stepping down from his day to day management responsibilities as President, PFF will continue to draw upon his policy expertise," stated incoming President Dan Caprio. "I am pleased to be succeeding Ray as PFF President at such an exciting and dynamic time in the digital age. I plan to continue the great work he's done positioning the Foundation as a respected and vital player in technology policy."

Prior to joining the Foundation in April, Caprio served as Chief Privacy Officer and Acting Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He will officially take over the leadership role at the conclusion of this year's Aspen Summit.

The Progress & Freedom Foundation is a market-oriented think tank that studies the digital revolution and its implications for public policy. It is a 501(c)(3) research & educational organization.
