WASHINGTON D.C. - President-elect Barack Obama has announced his intent to nominate Meredith A. Baker, former Acting Administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), to serve as Commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission. The following statement can be attributed to Ken Ferree, President of The Progress & Freedom Foundation:
"I commend the President for his choice of Meredith Baker to serve as Commissioner at the FCC. Meredith is extremely smart, well-versed in communications policy, and a skilled coalition builder. Her time at NTIA also gives her a unique perspective on the important role technology and market innovation can play in the sector of the economy regulated by the FCC. We look forward to working with her and the other FCC Commissioners in the coming years."
