Bret Swanson to Lead Center for Global Innovation
New Center to Focus on International Nature of Technology Economy

WASHINGTON D.C. - Bret Swanson has joined The Progress & Freedom Foundation as a Senior Fellow and Director of PFF's new Center for Global Innovation. The new Center will address the global nature of the digital economy and will advocate openness and innovation through free trade, stable monetary policy and limited international regulation.

"We are extremely pleased that Bret has joined our team of outstanding scholars," said PFF President Ken Ferree. "Bret’s work on technology and international economic issues will greatly enhance PFF’s expertise in the global policy arena. The new Center will assist regulators and legislators in developing policies that will ensure American economic prosperity in a global economy."

"I've long admired PFF's deep insights on the technology economy and am very excited to join the team," Swanson said. "With the new Center, we are eager to expand our work to explore the big challenges and opportunities in the rapidly changing global economy."

Prior to joining the Foundation, Swanson was Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute's Technology and Democracy Project, where his work focused on telecommunications, technology and economics. He also wrote for the Gilder Technology Report, a popular investment strategy publication, and served for three years as its Executive Editor. Swanson spent time as an analyst at Empower America and Sagamore Associates and worked as an aide to U.S. Senator Richard Lugar. Swanson attended Princeton University.

The Progress & Freedom Foundation is a market-oriented think tank that studies the digital revolution and its implications for public policy. It is a 501(c)(3) research & educational organization.
