BellSouth CEO Headlines Internet Summit
Ackerman To Join Corporate and Government Officials in Aspen

WASHINGTON D.C. - Duane Ackerman, chairman and chief executive officer of BellSouth Corporation, will offer his views on the future of communications and the Internet at the upcoming Aspen Summit sponsored by The Progress & Freedom Foundation. Joining other top corporate leaders, government officials and digital policy experts at the August 22-24 conference, Ackerman will engage in an extended dialogue as part of the Chairman's Dinner on Tuesday, August 24, at 7:00 pm MDT.

Among the confirmed speakers for the tenth annual Aspen Summit is Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael K. Powell, who will deliver a major policy address on Monday, August 23, at 12:45 pm. The theme of this year's Summit is the future of the Internet.

"Duane Ackerman is one of the most effective CEOs in the communications sector," said Progress & Freedom Foundation President Raymond L. Gifford. "As the head of a major communications provider - and a leader in the wireless sector - he offers valuable perspective on what's ahead for communications and the Internet."

BellSouth Corporation is a Fortune 100 communications company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and a parent of Cingular Wireless, the nation's second largest wireless voice and data provider. Ackerman chairs the national Council on Competitiveness and the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. He is a member of the President's Homeland Security Advisory Council.
