  • Thierer to Speak at "Convergence 2.0" Conference
    Today, Adam Thierer is a featured panelist at "Convergence 2.0: Navigating the Next Wave of Telecom, Media and Technology Deals," in New York City. Adam will speak on the panel "Legislation & Regulatory issues in Telecommunications and Media." The event is sponsored by The Deal and Tech Confidential.
  • Caprio to Discuss RFID Opportunities and Challenges
    Tuesday, June 27, Senior Fellow and Executive Vice President Dan Caprio will participate in "Policymakers' Guide to Radio Frequency Identification," a panel discussion hosted by Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee. More information can be found at http://www.netcaucus.org.
  • Lenard Testifies on Privacy in the Commercial World
    On June 20th, Senior Fellow and Senior Vice President Tom Lenard testified before the US House Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection. Lenard's testimony addressed consumer data privacy and security issues.
  • Gifford Submits Written Testimony on Competition in the Communications Industry
    President and Senior Fellow Ray Gifford was asked to submit written testimony for "Reconsidering Our Communications Laws: Ensuring Competition and Innovation," a hearing held on June 14th by the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary. Gifford's testimony can be found here.
  • PFF Co-Hosts Brussels Event
    On June 14th, PFF and the Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) co-hosted "Mission Impossible? - Protecting Children and Free Expression in Our New, Digital Content World." The event featured a keynote by Viviane Reding, Commissioner for Information Society and Media for the European Commission. More information can be found here.
  • Gifford Participates in Western Conference of Public Service Commissioners
    PFF President and Senior Fellow Ray Gifford was a featured speaker at this month's Western Conference of Public Service Commissioners. The Institute for Regulatory Law and Economics also hosted a workshop at the conference with Nobel Prize winning economist Vernon Smith.
  • Fellows Educate Young Professionals on Net Neutrality Issue
    Earlier this month, two PFF Fellows participated in panels intended to educate Capital Hill staff and other young policy professionals about network neutrality. Patrick Ross, Senior Fellow and Vice President for Communications and External Affairs, participated in "Should the Government Regulate the Net?," a roundtable hosted by the America's Future Foundation on June 15th. Adam Thierer, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for Digital Media Freedom, participated in a similar briefing on June 5th, hosted by NetCompetition.org.
  • Thierer Lends Voice to Issues of Child Protection and Media Regulation
    Adam Thierer, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for Digital Media Freedom, was a speaker at two prominent events on child protection and media regulation. On June 22nd, Thierer was a policy panel participant at a "Dialogue on Social Networking Web Site," hosted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. On June 7th, Thierer joined other prominent media policy exports for "Beyond Censorship," an event hosted by the New America Foundation. Participants discussed tools and policy options for protecting children from objectionable content.
  • DeLong Speaks on Fair Use, Digital Dilemmas
    On June 15th, Jim DeLong, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for the Study of Digital Property, was a featured panelist for the 6th Annual Symposium on Intellectual Property, hosted by The Center for Intellectual Property and Copyright in the Digital Environment Copyright at the University of Maryland. DeLong participated in the panel, "The Future of Fair Use." DeLong also participated in the "Digital Media Conference" on June 23rd. On his panel, DeLong addressed digital content censorship and First Amendment rights.
