Concerns regarding perceived media consolidation and a possible threat to local programming have spurred proposals from the Federal Communications Commission for tighter regulation of "localism" in broadcast media. Can these concerns over local broadcasting be justified in light of today's increasingly crowded and competitive media landscape? The merits of broadcast regulation will be discussed at, "The Future of Broadcast Regulation: Markets or Mandates?," a congressional seminar hosted by The Progress & Freedom Foundation. The event will feature opening remarks from Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
